Spray the sink with primer and allow to dry. Stainless steel and acrylic sinks are very similar in the way they are painted. Remove that dust before painting. So as a general rule you never want to apply paint directly to your stainless steel sink as it would not bond that way.

Once it is dry it should give a hazy appearance on the stainless steel sink. A single coat is all you need. Use sandpaper to scuff the sink and acetone to remove gloss. This can make the cohesion process of the paint more difficult.

To add life to the sink paint consider adding wax once it is dry. Primer will leave a fine film of dust once it dries. If your stainless steel sink has had years of abuse and showing signs of wearing you can skip this step as the paint will adhere easily to this rough surface. Now you can pick a rag to wipe to clean the sin thoroughly.

Then apply the color coat holding the spray can 6 to 8 inches away. Bare stainless steel needs a coat of primer before you apply the actual paint. Remove all hardware and clean the sink. Painting a stainless steel sink can be difficult because the finished surface of the stainless steel sink is completely smooth.

Let it dry and then scuff with 220 grit wet dry sandpaper before topcoating. Use caution with acetone.
